This page explains how to delete your RunIT account and exactly what happens
to your information. It applies to both apps — RunIT
(for customers) and RunIT Pro (for service providers).
Option 1 — Delete it in the app (immediate)
This is the fastest route and takes effect straight away.
RunIT (customer app)
Profile → Delete my account
RunIT Pro
Business → Settings & support → Delete my account
You will be asked to confirm. Once confirmed, your sign-in stops working
immediately and cannot be restored.
Option 2 — Ask us to do it
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email
support@runitt.co.za
with the subject “Delete my account”.
Send it from the email address on the account, or tell us the mobile number you signed up with.
Tell us which app — RunIT or RunIT Pro.
We verify that the request is really from you before we action it.
We action verified requests as soon as possible, and within
30 days at the latest.
What is deleted
Permanently removed when your account is deleted:
Your saved addresses and their map pins. An address that a past booking points to is kept only as a [deleted] placeholder, so the booking record stays intact without saying where you live.
Your device push tokens, so no notification can reach you again.
The contents of messages you sent, which may contain gate codes, directions or phone numbers.
Any review comments you wrote.
Your name, phone number, email address and profile photo.
Your sign-in credentials, which are detached and permanently disabled.
If you are a RunIT Pro: your bio, work area, working hours, services and portfolio photos — and you stop appearing to customers immediately, so nobody can book you.
What is kept, and why
Some records cannot simply be erased, because South African law requires us
to keep them. These are anonymised: they stay in our system
but no longer carry your name, contact details or identity.
Booking and payment records, and the money ledger. Retained for a minimum of seven (7) years, in line with section 24 of the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and SARS record-keeping requirements. The location stored on those bookings is reduced to the surrounding area (about a kilometre), so it no longer points to your home.
Audit and fraud logs, kept for security and accountability.
Message rows in a conversation — the row remains so the other person's chat history is not left with gaps, but your message content is replaced with [deleted].
In short: everything that identifies you is removed; the financial
record of transactions that actually happened is kept, without your
identity attached. This is what the law requires of any business
that handles payments, and it is described in our
Privacy Policy.
Before you can delete
For your own protection, deletion is refused in three situations. In each
case the app tells you which one applies.
You have an active booking. Finish or cancel it first — otherwise somebody is on their way to a job that no longer has a customer, or a Pro loses work already accepted.
A payment is still being held against a booking. This only applies to jobs paid inside the app — during the beta, jobs are paid in cash and this never comes up. Complete the job and release the payment, or cancel and be refunded, before deleting.
You have a dispute under review. Deleting mid-dispute would destroy the evidence needed to resolve it in your favour.
Once none of these apply, deletion goes through immediately.
